A Night of Hip Hop in Stone Tavern at Michel’s

Local Akron artist, G-Blakk, opened the night at Stone Tavern at Michel’s and delivered a smooth flow and upbeat cadence. When he gets comfortable in the pocket, his personality really starts to shine throughout his performance.

Traveling acting from New Orleans, Jonathan Brown, makes “tiny songs” that consists of lo-fi beats, poetic word-play, and detailed storytelling. As a former school teacher, he shares messages in his experimental music that is both inspiring and complex (but in a good way). The best way to describe Brown is to think of the funniest friend you have… now imagine that he is a talented rapper.

Listening to Free Black!, a duo consisting of Floco Torres and HR3,Β always puts a smile on my face when I see them perform (probably the fourth time since their birth in the late-Fall of 2018). The producer/drummer extraordinaire, HR3, holds down the fort while Floco flanks the crowd with his lyrical prowess. This duo is an example of simplicity meets excellence using solid samples and years of skill to produce vibrant music.
